Hammer keeps wiping my Func_Detail without errors?
Hi All,
I'm new to Hammer, so apologies if this has been covered before but the last few maps I've worked on have been plagued by a weird issue that I can't seem to figure out.
It seems at random points, when I load my map, a heap of the func_detail brushes will have reverted back to world. I'm not getting any errors when I load, it opens fine - just that random chunks of the world will no longer be tied to entities and will be showing as world again.
If I repair the damage, save and reload, it stays gone... for a while - My current map has done it twice in the last 24 hours.
Here are some screenshots from my map, it was fine on save last night, when opening it this morning this is the difference:

From what I've read, it seems there's an issue with certain SDKs / Hammer when it tries to load a map with 'invalid solids' that can cause this but this also seems to be accompanied by error messages, which I'm not getting - or not seeing, do I need to do something for them to be visible? - and tends to wipe all detail brushes, not just some, so I don't know if this is what's happening here or not.
If it helps to know, the map compiles fine when the detail brushes are there. After breaking, it still compiles (just takes a bit longer).
Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

This is basically a spiritual successor to the "I make you a image" thread by gen. Degroot. So basically just tell me what you want there to be and I will do them whenever I have time for them. So you tell me the map (I can't do cp_badlands unless in the mid and spire as the cp_badlands bug is still not fixed so it still crashes SFM).
You tell me what characters you want to be ther, what team they are on, what they are wearing etc.
I do this in a way that does not require you to give me anything back expect time to do these so these are completely free.
Oh and I also do there posters for Daily SPUF, so if anyone is interested of writing an article I can supply them with pictures ;)
To see my work in the past just basically go through my articles in Daily SPUF as all the pictures there are made by me. Just so you can see what kind of quality I can get out if I am given time to do it.
And yes Aabicus I will make an article to advertise this so no need to ask ;)

Weird text scaling problem in Vista

The problem:
This is a screenshot from my Grandad's laptop. This is composing an email using his webmail provider in Mozilla Firefox. As you can see, the text has gaps in it. Tall letters in particular have issues - letter f has no top. Letter t has no branch. g and j have no bottom.
I have only noticed this issue so far in text entry boxes - other text in the browser and other programs displays well.
It's not his webmail provider's bad website. I logged in to my own, totally different webmail provider and had the same issue.
It's not the browser. I loaded up both our webmail pages in Chrome to see if it was a Firefox problem. Exactly the same thing.
Font settings - it's set to 100% in browser. In the OS settings it's set to the recommended default. Changing the default font in browser made no difference (the webpage set the font it wanted). Also turning off "hardware acceleration" in browser made no difference.
Resolution setting - the laptop is running at the recommended resolution.
I've never seen anything like this. Any other ideas of what's going on here, things we can try?

So now we have gem bags being used as the 'currency' of choice.
Around the same time every night (8-10am in China), 'fjdoiajczcx' 'jiogjdrgjfid' 'reopwqjujfds' and 'ciznjoxjasf' buy 1000's of bags of gems. If you watch them long enough, they'll usually 'friend' some DOTA player with 1000+ hours, and usually this DOTA player won't have a hidden inventory, so you can see a few gem bags appear (then usually disappear shortly thereafter, getting listed on marketplace).
Other times, they'll send it to some central mule.. the most I've seen on any account at one time was close to 2500.
Now, most of these old accounts that I've seen on other days have trade bans. That's nice and all, but these trade bans come too late. They are back the next day with more jfosjifoas with gearcrack arena or beyond gravity (and sometimes DOTA, depending on their purpose) doing the same old thing. The dates I've seen for account creation range from December 27th to January 22nd.

Split screen on local LAN server
Hello,
I've set up a local LAN server using SteamCMD so I could use some sourcemod plugins I like. Now I want to play on this server with a friend of mine, in Split Screen mode.
I know that to play splitscreen normally, you'd use ss_map <mapname> and then connect_splitscreen localhost 2, however this connects to a server the game sets up internally. Although the game and server are running on the same PC, I want the game to connect to the server I've set up, and not a new one it creates internally.
I've tried connect_splitscreen 127.0.0.1 2, even using my own external IP (after I've port forwarded port 27015, of course), but those commands just don't work. Nothing happens after entering them. It seems you first need to specify the ss_map command. But doing so initiates an internal server, which is not what I need.
I'm sorry if it is vague, but I hope you can understand. If not, please ask and I'll clarify.
TL;DR Connect to server set up on LAN with splitscreen from in-game console.

-Loads all grenades into the same chamber of a grenade launcher.
-Loads four grenades into a launcher with six barrels (and with one barrel), three grenades into a launcher with two barrels.
-Has stickybomb launchers which carry 30 or more bombs despite not being able to hold this many. He never actually puts new bombs in them. He never questions his magic launcher.
-For some reason decides he cannot carry a grenade launcher around when putting on boots or something on his back, even though he can carry a grenade launcher. However, he can carry a grenade launcher while wearing boots or something on his back.
-Decides to sometimes run forward quickly in a straight line when holding a shield, but decides not to when running around with a stickybomb launcher.
-Drinks from a variety of objects which do not hold any liquid.
-Hits people with a stielhandgrenade. Decides not to throw them.
-Carries six grenades on his chest which he never uses.
-Always carries a squeaky toy around.
-Always carries a guitar around.
-Always carries a crate of booze around.
-Can do a perfect wolf howl impression.

Whenever I try to send a link to someone, they say that it says "link removed" in their message...

Game Shutdowns
Priority Problem:
This is the first map I have made and I have run into problems I'm not sure how to fix. The map compiles fine. The only issue I have noticed is that vrad stalls for about 30 seconds and then its fine. The major issue that is troubling me is the map will run fine with no performance issues. But then, for what seems like no reason at all, Garry's Mod closes. It doesn't crash or report anything in the console. The game just closes while playing on the map. The compile log doesn't offer insight on this issue as far as I can tell. I will upload the VMF file as soon as I figure out how *hint*. I only found one error I'm not sure how to fix that came up AFTER this problem. The map started closing the game after I've added AI templates that spawn in. If this is the issue how do I fix it?
Here are the only errors in console:

This is a TTT map I'm building for my server. I have created a temple that was inspired from Sandopolis zone on the Sega Genesis games Sonic3 and knuckles. When the map starts a logic_auto turns on the lights about 30+/- of them which could be why VRAD is stalling. When the lights fail after 90seconds the temple goes dark and then manhacks spawn in. They spawn from a template, a total of about 6 from different template spawners. The game has shut down twice after the round ended and a new one started. Other shutdowns happened during the spawning. I find it hard to believe these few bots can break my map when I'm alone when I've spawned dozens on my server with only occasional crashes. The template is also not doing what I want. They have the render FX working but the color (I want them white because they are supposed to be ghosts) and transparency isn't working.
Medium Priority Problems:
The error with the physbox happened when I tried to spawn an entity on one of 3 env_entity_creaters. This entity consists of the func_physbox (called a flare) that has the following children: trigger_hurt, env_flare, and trigger_push(flareShield). These combined entities simulate a flare that can burn the player. The trigger_push pushes the ghosts away when they enter it as if they are "afraid" of the flare. The map doesn't seem to like spawning all these entities together hence the error I assume? Because sometimes it spawns other times it doesn't. When it does spawn its only from a certain env_entity_creater then it works just fine.
The flares will be used as keys to unlock certain things like the T room of the Traitor tester. But I want to have the "key slot" to be in one of X number of places when the round restarts so players can't take for granted where the flares or the places to put them will be. How do I make it so that certain thing happen when the round STARTS? logic_auto doesn't say anything about rounds. Only "onmapspawn trigger etc"
Players spawn in the void! I've added info_player_starts and TTT_spectator spawns. Now what?
Lower Priority problem:
I have light from light entities "leaking" through brushes where they meet faces with other brushes. How could this be? Brushes seal the map but light can slip through the "cracks" between brushes? How do I fix this? Its not causing issues it just looks ugly.

The template is also not doing what I want. They have the render FX working but the color (I want them white because they are supposed to be ghosts) and transparency isn't working.
Medium Priority Problems:
The error with the physbox happened when I tried to spawn an entity on one of 3 env_entity_creaters. This entity consists of the func_physbox (called a flare) that has the following children: trigger_hurt, env_flare, and trigger_push(flareShield). These combined entities simulate a flare that can burn the player. The trigger_push pushes the ghosts away when they enter it as if they are "afraid" of the flare. The map doesn't seem to like spawning all these entities together hence the error I assume? Because sometimes it spawns other times it doesn't. When it does spawn its only from a certain env_entity_creater then it works just fine.
The flares will be used as keys to unlock certain things like the T room of the Traitor tester. But I want to have the "key slot" to be in one of X number of places when the round restarts so players can't take for granted where the flares or the places to put them will be. How do I make it so that certain thing happen when the round STARTS? logic_auto doesn't say anything about rounds. Only "onmapspawn trigger etc"
Players spawn in the void! I've added info_player_starts and TTT_spectator spawns. Now what?
Lower Priority problem:
I have light from light entities "leaking" through brushes where they meet faces with other brushes. How could this be? Brushes seal the map but light can slip through the "cracks" between brushes? How do I fix this? Its not causing issues it just looks ugly.
Please let me know if I have been helpful as this is my first time asking for help here and I want to be helpful.

Steam is currently being plagued by phishing scammers, and not even human ones.
Once I saw a bugged out phishing bot added me with a tag #1012.
It does seem this means one single person is controlling over a thousand phishing bots randomly adding and phishing players.
My idea is for Steam accounts to fill out a captcha each time (or once every so often) before they're able to add a new friend.
This renders those bots practically useless and shouldn't bother normal players much, as adding people is no longer a prerequisite for trading and finding new friends doesn't happen too often (sad face). Feedback?

So I installed Windows 7 Home Premium onto my PC and it now says that it is not genuine and is asking for a product key that I have since lost. Hi, I made a map intended for CS:GO arms race. The map has 6 spawn points for each team and I can play it in arms race game mode when I launch it from console, but when I uploaded it in Workshop (I checked all the boxes including Arms Race in Map Publish Tool) - it doesn't allow me to choose arms race game mode. I think that's the best policy. Play on as many servers as you can with the weapons you think are not balanced. Repeatedly demonstrating will get more people to notice and Valve will eventually respond.

Error on DOTA 2 start up, not sure what it means
I have 3 errors, not sure what it means and how to fix it. The first error is every time I start up DOTA 2 on Steam:
"[SteamDatagramClient] WARNING: Failed to initialize network config from data from CDN
[SteamDatagramClient] Missing or empty 'routers' list"
I get lag spikes and I'm not sure if this is the issue or not.
I also get this error:

Tried so far:
Updated adobe: still crashes after a while.
Uninstalled flash using the flash uninstaller, reinstalled, Still crashes after a while.

What i'm supposed to watch now that i'm finished with Bleach?
Someone suggest me good Anime, which can be found at Crunchyroll. I have watched Bleach, Dragon ball/Z/GT, Rurouni Kenshin, Samurai Champloo, Berserk,Cowboy bebob, Trigun, and some anime here and there. Out of these i enjoyed Berserk the most, aside from the fact that it ended horribly, and wasn't continued until now that its being remade.
i'm into Scifi, Fantasy, and samurai era. I don't like Drama or Comedy stuff either.
Crunhyroll has kinda weak selection at EU though, so some anime which is available at US is not at EU.

So i encountered my first FPS drops, but i quickly fixed it.
well this weekend i upgraded my main system. i got me 16gb ram, and a i7 4770. its not a K but im not complaining. got it for free.
Any way, i bought me a open-box mobo to get this system running. i got me a gigabyte z97x gaming 3 mobo. it came with a Realteck audio with a SB XFI addon driver. suppose to boost and enhance sound.
well, with the SB XFi driver installed i was only getting 40-60fps ingame. for some strange reason i decided to uninstall the SB XFi driver.
Started game back up. BAM. 300fps with ease. so much better then my old i7 930 @ 3.8ghz.
So if anyone is using that SB XFI addon for Realteck audio and having FPS problems should look into uninstalling. see if that helps.

To the point...In all CS:GO servers I join (any), I'm doing well with my ping and framerate. Ping being 40-70 and framerate above 80.
However, whenever somebody specates me, or im seen by a friendly or enemy, they claim that i'm having about 3 frames per second, and I am lagging quite hard.
I feel as if this is affecting me in performance, and without it, I would be doing better.
I think as if the Enemy sees me before im able to see them with this problem.
Any solutions or ideas on what this is?

My take on TideTurner/Demoknight
Tide Turner:
Revert charge drain (like everyone else wants)
Remove charge on kill completely.
Claidheamh Mòr:
100% charge on kill, versus 25% charge on charge kill.
Booties/Bootlegger:
100% charge on charge kill (or alternatively, 100% charge on melee kill, to match the Claid).
If the Tide Turner just turned easily, without the drain, it'd probably still be on par with the Targe and Screen (which is the weakest Shield right now).
The charge-kill mechanics could be moved over to the Booties and Claid completely, even buffed (on kill versus on charge) to be more overall useful.
The Targe wouldn't benefit from this much, since people tend to use that for resistances, but the Screen could be on par with the Tide Turner if you could recharge the Screen on kill. The difference would be that instead of the loop-de-loop kills, you could chain together close range charges to carve through a team.
The main problems off the top of my head would be: People would use Booties more (if they were useful, would that be a problem?) and that Demo would be even stronger in Medieval. Beyond that, BootieKnights would be stronger in general, the Claid would synergize with all the Shields rather than just the Tide Turner like it does now, and the Tide Turner would be crazy again.
Note: The reason for the two different stats on the Booties is: I'm not sure if TF2 likes redundant weapons all that much, so giving them the exact same passive might be weird.

Why is there no forgive option for TK?
Without going into a big rant, why is there no forgive TK option? TKs can happen, and an accidental awp HS to an ally who runs in front of you can almost get you kicked in and of itself. Sometimes it's even a smart tactical move to TK (last guy left is behind your ally, you have an awp with a 'clean' shot, etc.).
Why is there no forgive option for TK?
Is Loch-n-Targe the new tryhard loadout?
I heard some people complaining on these very forums about the usage of the Loch and targe together. It seems decently effective, but I'm not sure if it's as degenerate as some people are implying.

CS:GO crashes driving me insane...
This is the only game crashing for me. I'm getting two types of crashes:
In Demolition, Gun Game, or Deathmatch, the game will crash on either the first or second map load...i.e., I'll load in fine, might be able to load the next map one time, but will crash for sure on second load (if I didn't already crash on the first load). So I can't play more than one game on any of these modes before having to quit out.
Now I'm also getting crashes in competitive mode. Not every time, but sometimes the game will just randomly crash in a match.
Crash symptoms are a black screen, and the PC usually powers completely off. System event log is no help. Have to completely reboot the machine.
I've tried turning off multicore rendering. I've verified the game files numerous times. Deleted and reinstalled the game numerous times. Nothing works.

AMD X4 860K quadcore
8 gigs of RAM (actually have 16, but this new build won't recognize half my RAM)
AMD Radeon R7 200 series graphics
Drivers appear to be up to date for all. This is a new build which runs fine otherwise. Google search has gotten me nowhere. Anyone else having a similar problem?

At this point, the timeline in this movie is pretty much a mess. Even if you pretend, like my brother, that anything after Terminator 2 Judgement Day doesn't happen and were just "What If" stories (IE not canon), the timeline is still pretty much in a paradox.
Well, I guess that depends on what ending to T2 Judgement Day is actual canon.
I think the ending to the original T2 and the Special Edition are almost the same, though I am not entirely sure, since it's been a while sine I have seen either of them. What's totally different is the ending to the Extended Special Edition (lol). Judgement Day does not happen; John Conner becomes a politician, all is right in the world... Except Kyle Reese does not go back in time to knock up Sarah Conner, which means John Conner does not get conceived. Which leads to Judgement Day actually happening, and this time, there's no one to lead the humans to almost victory.
Unless of course, John Conner sponsers a bill titled the Lets Knock Up My Mom 40 Years Ago act. In which the state sponsers the creation of a Time Machine, a Cyborg hell bent on killing Sarah Conner in 1984, and of course Kyle Reese playing the soldier who has to save Sarah Conner + love interest. (god damn, John Conner is a ♥♥♥♥ing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!)
ANYWAY! At this point, the timeline is in a paradox, a screwed one at that.
What can also be possible, to explain away the paradox is that going back in time created an alternate universe in which there's no need for time travel and all is right in the world.
However, that is BORING!
We need Judgement Day to happen, and we need John Conner to happen.
So lets scrap the ending to the Extended Special Edition of T2. And lets scrap T3 Rise of the Machines and everything else after T2.

The only thing referencing John Conner is a speech at the end, possibly during the credits by John Conner, telling humanity to fight the machines. But he doesn't play a big role in the film. It takes place around 1999 or 2000. Destroying the lab, broken chip and cyborg arm was debilitating, but a recoverable loss (as they probably held data backups that Miles Dyson was unaware of somewhere else, like all good companies would do).
Yes, T3 tried to do this some what, but they screwed it up and the movie was horrible at worst, and just alright at best.

Players not having mics at DMG/MGE level
My solo queue account is DMG level and my last 3 games have been played where every single member of my team but me has not had a mic. Most have been MGE or the odd MG2 but i spotted a badge doing this as well, all 3 games were lost and all 3 times I top fragged the entire match while my team just bombed. The funny part is they get angry when you don't see what they say asking for a drop usually or the odd time making a call, because having to read what other players type is more important than checking corners and playing the game lol. How do players manage to make it to that level without a mic? Is it just getting lucky and being carried by players with mics and skill or what?
Just a rant, also get a mic and stop being a burden on your team. This is the specific reason why people have second accounts and sometimes why smurfs exist.

In Dota 2 there are items that allow you to bet on your games. If you can predict your win 3 times correctly it gives you a cases which opens without a key and drops a untradeable item. It's imo a really nice feature and should be added to cs:go too.

How did you get the Neighborhood watch Achievement?
I cheated I'm a cheater and I still feel guitly about it I don't even count that as an Achievement I earned.
I was younger and loved using cheats so when I found out ths game had bonafide cheat codes I hoped on mind you I already beat half life 2 and the episodes twice before I actually used them but none the less I never trully deserved the Achievement.
I want to try to get it legitly with another profile. but I would like to know for those who got the Achievement how did you get it? how many times did you attempt it? and did you actually used the Magnuson device?

Cant connect to cerberus network

First off I want to say sorry if this has been discussed but I searched and couldnt find it.
I have just reinstalled the NON-steam version of ME2 and have downloaded and installed all the DLC i have purchased and when I go ingame i get a screen that says: "unable to activate DLC (and then it lists all the DLC) please login to cerberus account used to buy the DLC." but when I try it just says that the connection has been interrupted or has timed out.
The message comes up instantly and it seems like its not even trying to connect.
I have disabled all firewalls (both norton and windows), I have plugged the cat 5 cable from the modem directly to the computer (bypassing the router) and nothing.
I have read that the cerberus servers were shutdown but that leaves me asking how to activate the DLC I bought? Any help would be appreciated. thank you in advance.

Will the Overkill pack expire?
I'm wondering, if I purchase the Overkill 4-pack to gift to friends who don't yet have Payday 2, will those ever expire from my Steam inventory? I'd hate to pick it up for the purpose of gifting to people and then find that they expire.

I came to this forum so that I could find a place where one could communicate with the devs (or the people in charge of bans) directly and provide them information about a blatant cheating incident, which might make their - and our - lives easier, and I am indeed shocked, that there is no dedicated thread for this purpose. The issue is popular, and there are numerous single threads called "Reporting a hacker" (hence the name of this thread). So its only natural to make an organized sticky that would specifically adress this matter.

While Uber is not fully charged: Hold M2 to activate Leech Effect. While active, Leech Effect disables self-healing and drains your health at double the amount of your self-heal rate. The drain rate increases the longer you haven't received damage from other sources (like with self-healing). In exchange, Leech Effect builds 1% Uber per second. Release M2 to deactivate Leech Effect. Leech Effect does not work while you have Overheal.
You know how certain classes can self-damage in order to increase your Uber build rate? Well, now you can do that too. Similar to how rocket-jumps trade off health for mobility, you're trading off health for Uber. Great for speeding up your build rate if you have map awareness of where the health kits are, or for completing an Uber if your patient just died and there are no other teammates around.
Thoughts?

Create a "cone" of damage protruding from the weapon, with most falloff furthest from the center. This should take care of lag issues, and make pyro less derpy in terms of apparent/actual aim. Thoughts?

What do you think of Elite dangerous?
I just got the game and so far it looks fantastic. I am amazed by the 400 billion star galaxy. But I have some problems with docking and using supercruise in the solar system. I would like to know what are your opinions on Elite Dangerous so far?

Whenever I update my steam I seem to have some problems with it. I would update my steam and then like 3 to 5 minutes later my steam update would pop up again. Not a new update but the same one as the last time. Why does my steam update pop up twice or several times?

this thread is self explanatory, really.
Time and time again I go to my wishlist foolishly thinking i can quickly learn which of my most anticipated games is getting close to its release date only to realize Steam doesn't really have that information handy.
Sure in the main store page you have the "Upcoming" tab, but that doesn't really cut it for me (especially after the Steam layout update, which IMO made that particular tab worse).
so why not filter the wishlist by release date? that way we can quickly know which game is coming when.

remove systray icon on Win7+
Hi,
I liked the systray icon in steam for years, it was practical and handy.
But it lost its usefulness since Win7.
Why?
So my Suggestion/Request would be to remove it on Win7 and later, plus add the list of last started games to the jumplist of the taskbar icon.

- since the "blue" design update the icon does not show an download indication anymore
(the pinned steam icon in the taskbar does this, even better and more OS integrated)
- nearly everything which you can get from an rightclick you can have in the jumplist too
(except for the list of last started games)
- it looks very small these days
(and it wont get much better, resolutions just go up and up and up)
So my Suggestion/Request would be to remove it on Win7 and later, plus add the list of last started games to the jumplist of the taskbar icon.
Why?
- better OS integration
(use of already provided OS features and better consistency in terms of which app should show up in which place, steam is no system tool and the missplacement in the systray comes from winxp days in which space was sparse)
- remove of an redundant feature
What needs to be done:
- remove tray icon
- add an option to minimize to taskbar while clicking on the x in steam window
(by default ON, you could argue now that it isn't very consistent to do the same on 2 window buttons, but actually most users do like to keep steam open all the time ^^)
- while installing steam, pin the steam icon to the taskbar
(if not already done, i don't know)

Is anyone else here experiencing this? Cause I just sent this email to Valve.

So I thought I'd do some pubbing, on Valve servers, and ran into people that are behaving exactly as they've always been: whenever the teams get scrambled, they all just jump right back onto the same team.
I thought they fixed that.
On a related note: The voting system is still stupid. "Oh, the majority vote is yes, but NOT ENOUGH people voted yes."
That just seems really stupid when I'm trying to fix the teams situation.

History of Ys Games Video?
I got into the ys series last year and remember hunting down a pretty fantastic video rundown of the history of the ys series and the various remakes. I've been able to find a few similar videos on youtube, but nothing that was quite as thorough, detailing the various remakes and such.
I remember it covering all of the games through Ys 7, and it mentioning that a Vita game might be in production, so it had to have been a few years older when I watched it.
Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? I've been youtubing and googling like crazy, but can't seem to find it.
If not, are there any ys retrospectives out there that are particularly good that you guys would recommend?

Shortstop is underpowered as hell
First off, think about the lack of articles on this subject. That means it's either really good or has never been used, so everyone forgot it existed.
Secondly, the Shortstop has too little upsides and far too big downsides to make it usable in normal gameplay. Please note that all data will be extracted from the wiki. You can find everything and more here: http://ift.tt/1GDMJzC
For its upsides, you get 20% increased healing, much less bullet spread, double the power of each pellet, about 40% faster firing speed than the stock, and even increased reload speed. That sounds amazing, but each thing has fine print in its weaknesses
For one, you only get the health bonus when the weapon is active. So, if you're out of ammo and happen to see a health kit near an ammo pack and you're on fire, tough crap, you have to take the normal amount of health.
The bullet spread's counter, as well as double pellet damage's, is that you get 60% less pellets than stock, meaning you have 20% less damage per shot, making that completely pointless.
And the reload speed comes at the fine print of a clip size of 4 bullets, making punishment harder to deal out.
Now, I can do math (look at me) and each crit pellet does 36 damage. It shoots 4 pellets. Meaning that a crit does 144 damage, where as a mini-crit from a point-blank Scattergun does 80 to 140, and that also comes with the chance of a crit, which by the way, does 180 damage.
Finally, it two biggest weaknesses, and strangely the only immediately noticable ones is that it increases push force from damage and airblast, which is a harsh downside to Scout for no real reward, and the fact that it shares the ammo pool with your pistol. And the pistol does the same function as the Shortstop!
So, what would I do to make the Shortstop usable? Well, the whole point of it, I'm assuming, is to do good damage at medium to long range. So, we could remove damage ramp-down on it to make it do 48 damage at long distances, which is really good, or we could revoke the 60% fewer pellets, making it do 60 damage at long-range, which is even better.
The true biggest "weakness" of the Shortstop is how it makes you an easy target for Soldiers, Demomen, or even Pyros. The increased push force gives you less control, meaning that they can easily airshot you, or juggle you off the map. A health bonus can't help if you're not near a health pack or fighting a milked enemy. And if you are fighting a milked enemy, what's the point of using the Shortstop?
Not only can I prove it from a gameplay level, but I can prove it from a statistics level.

Compare that to the Battalion's Backup which according to the TF2 blog on July 8th, 2013, had "less than 15% of players who own it ever equipping it." So, what we have gathered is that the Shortstop's upsides, hidden or not, have a downside to counter that and lower it, making it worse than the Scattergun. We've seen it has nearly half the equip rate of a Soldier weapon Valve tweaked because the equipment rate was too low for them, and if neither of those are proof enough, think of the last TF2 video you saw of someone making good use of this Scattergun.

For its upsides, you get 20% increased healing, much less bullet spread, double the power of each pellet, about 40% faster firing speed than the stock, and even increased reload speed. That sounds amazing, but each thing has fine print in its weaknesses
For one, you only get the health bonus when the weapon is active. So, if you're out of ammo and happen to see a health kit near an ammo pack and you're on fire, tough crap, you have to take the normal amount of health.
The bullet spread's counter, as well as double pellet damage's, is that you get 60% less pellets than stock, meaning you have 20% less damage per shot, making that completely pointless.
And the reload speed comes at the fine print of a clip size of 4 bullets, making punishment harder to deal out.
Now, I can do math (look at me) and each crit pellet does 36 damage. It shoots 4 pellets. Meaning that a crit does 144 damage, where as a mini-crit from a point-blank Scattergun does 80 to 140, and that also comes with the chance of a crit, which by the way, does 180 damage.
Finally, it two biggest weaknesses, and strangely the only immediately noticable ones is that it increases push force from damage and airblast, which is a harsh downside to Scout for no real reward, and the fact that it shares the ammo pool with your pistol. And the pistol does the same function as the Shortstop!
So, what would I do to make the Shortstop usable? Well, the whole point of it, I'm assuming, is to do good damage at medium to long range. So, we could remove damage ramp-down on it to make it do 48 damage at long distances, which is really good, or we could revoke the 60% fewer pellets, making it do 60 damage at long-range, which is even better.
The true biggest "weakness" of the Shortstop is how it makes you an easy target for Soldiers, Demomen, or even Pyros. The increased push force gives you less control, meaning that they can easily airshot you, or juggle you off the map. A health bonus can't help if you're not near a health pack or fighting a milked enemy. And if you are fighting a milked enemy, what's the point of using the Shortstop?
Not only can I prove it from a gameplay level, but I can prove it from a statistics level.

Compare that to the Battalion's Backup which according to the TF2 blog on July 8th, 2013, had "less than 15% of players who own it ever equipping it." So, what we have gathered is that the Shortstop's upsides, hidden or not, have a downside to counter that and lower it, making it worse than the Scattergun. We've seen it has nearly half the equip rate of a Soldier weapon Valve tweaked because the equipment rate was too low for them, and if neither of those are proof enough, think of the last TF2 video you saw of someone making good use of this Scattergun.

Hello guys,
I have a question for you guys. When I setup a private match with friends I have a strange problem (since 3/4 months now). When I setup a match on a workshop map (for example 'Island' or 'Tulip') we join the T team and I use this commands:

10x 'bot_add_ct'
we have a practice 2 human vs 10 bots situation. It's fun and a good way to warmup.
Ok and now the problem. The problem is that there's something strange with the roundtimer. For example, when we kill all the bots, the round is not ending! When we plant the bomb and the bomb explode, the round is not over. We have to wait until the roundtimer is over and when it hit the 0 the round is still not over. This was never a problem before, it's not fun anymore to practice against bots on a private server. Can you guys help me out?!

As you know I would love someone to model Doncaster to Leeds, as I am getting on a bit and do not think I can grasp 3d modelling I have tried the next best thing and superimposed my route over a picture of Lofthouse Colliery nr Wakefield, I am delighted with the result but is there any way I can reduce the stutter as the train is close to the right side of the frame. I am using Fraps and it appears before the film is compressed.

some weapons are obviously op. like baby face blaster, even gunslinger engineers can barely do anything about bfb scouts. but on the bright side at least bfb makes minis seem somewhat necessary for balance.

Couple of things i didnt notice before
Just played episode 2 today for the 100th time in my life and noticed some things that made me wonder
In the chapter when you enter the white forests base there are 1 male and 1 female resistance members sitting in the couch where eli sits when alyx tells him gmans words
The female looks sad and has her hands in her head while the guy looks at me for a second then turns his head in another direction...
Could it be foreshadowing of elis death?
After the death of eli i would imagine alyx and gordon sitting at that same couch with alex being sad about her dads death and freeman trying to calm her down...
Oh and there was a small house with 1 entrance only which was surrounded by toxic waste in under the radar with 2 skeletons in a couch which makes me wonder how they ended up there in the first place and stayed so long there just to die?
Perhaps its just overshadowing freemans and alyxs fate after they find borealis D
Also the alarm was being activated in the silo atleast 3 times when it was just a false alarm (hl3 confirmed xD) and magnusson said its crows messing up the alarms system
Crows crows lets remember who is somehow connected with crows its a guy with a suit and a briefcase.
And wtf do combine advisor have the ability to stop bullets with their minds or something i shot at the advisor in the silo with the turret for 2 seconds while the blast door was closing and the advisor didnt even moved...
Also i found a small bug that made me jump in a rock in under the radar close while i was looking for the resistances cache and see a place out of the map with interesting nothing on it and could not go back to the normal map

Fake Ammunition
I have an idea to improve the Spy's disguises. So we all agree the disguises are pretty ineffective most of the time since everyone in the enemy team can notice that moron moving around without shooting anyone, right? Now what if...
The disguised spy is allowed to shoot fake ammunition?
Now here's how it works. By pressing the middle mouse button, the spy will attack (regular left-click attack) with whatever weapon his disguise is holding. The attack will be seen by everyone in the spy's enemy team. But it will deal no damage if it hits anyone either team. Explosive projectiles will create explosions, but those will also deal no damage. The attacks won't be able to push anyone, either.
The attack will also be invisible to the spy's ally team, in order not to confuse them. The one you want to confuse is the enemy team.
That could also be extended to melee weapons. In this case the name "fake ammunition" wouldn't apply, but it's the same principle, a fake attack.
So the point is: instead of running around disguised without shooting, the spy can stand in the middle of the battlefield, shoot some fake projectiles and pretend he is attacking his team, while he is actually waiting for a window to backstab a nearby enemy. Or shoot fake fire from a flamethrower to protect an engineer when he actually wants to kill the engineer. The possibilities are endless.
Of course, eventually good players will learn to expect this and will spycheck people regardless if they are shooting anyone. Still, it's a bonus if the spy can create more paranoia get his enemies to spend more time spychecking.
So, what do you think? Good idea? Terrible idea? Needs to be balanced in some way? That isn't meant to be an unlock, more like a straight buff to the spy which I think he needs a lot, though theoretically it could be made an unlock if we gave it a proper downside.

Interaction of mollies and smokes seems to be bugged
I had a game yesterday where if I threw a smoke over a burning mollie the smoke would freeze in place. This happened a couple of times to me on Mirage. CT's threw a mollie at entrance of T ramp, I tried to bounce a smoke off the wall to middle of site but the smoke just froze over the fire. In another round I threw a mollie towards palm/jungle but the smoke froze mid air over the fire.
Want to know if this is a bug or maybe something up with the server as in this game we could not hear the bomb being planted or defused for some reason.
