I've posted this already on other resources like reddit but seems like there are no fixes so far. And I'm definitely not the only one with such problems to begin with.
Basically, UAC in Windows 10 won't let me perform even the simple tasks that would work normally in 7.
For instance, w/ UAC disabled completely through TweakUAC a program called Nvidia Geforce Experience CAN read and change my games' settings just fine like it did before I upgraded.
With UAC on on ANY elevation level it won't let Nvidia GFE do much. I'm just getting "Unable to retrieve all current settings." or the other error on almost every game. Launching both .exe's as an admin changes literally nothing. (I thought nvidia were releasing a special Win 10 update, so what the heck is this and how do I get around it?)
The only way to make things like that work is killing UAC altogether.
HOWEVER that disables the market and its apps also, and some of them are REALLY nice and useful to me. So it's a fail both ways.
In reality I can easily live without them just fine with programs I REALLY need working properly at last (even photo editors are broken by UAC, let alone setting-changing and recording software like GFE), however I'd really appreciate having them BOTH on.
Other instances:
GTA V won't launch (launcher gets stuck in a loading loop) unless both .exe's are run as admin w/ UAC on.
Many other games and programs won't run properly w/o admin rights now (examples - OpenTTD and Mass Effect 3 fail while trying to save)
Also everything is read-only. I tried changing that with Tweaking.com Windows Repair but it hasn't really changed ANYTHING noticeably on my side.
I might as well roll back to 7. It's not THAT bad, the OS is really fast - I've gained extra FPS in many modern titles w/ my somewhat-outdated-by-now GTX660, plus it's efficient and looks good, but the privacy concerns and intrusive UAC are killing it for me.
Help? Anyone?
