I've seen a lot of various thoughts on this weapon before the Gun Mettle update but no one seems to talk about it currently.
Curious how people feel about it in it's current form. I think it could use some tweaks to reduce lone wolf aspect and make it better for teamplay.
At the moment the stats are;
-10% damage (results in less than 1 less damage per particle, a 15.25 DPS reduction, still does full afterburn)
Requires 225 damage to max out Mmmph
Mmph regains full health
75% damage reduction while taunting
Gains a full Kritz charge (10seconds) minus taunt time. I think it's like 6.5-7seconds of actual gameplay. However if you knock the pyro around in any way the taunt ends and they can gain up to the full 10 seconds.
No random crits, No airblast
---
Airblast is a fair bit to give up in a team oriented play, no question.
Here is my problems with the weapon;
1. After Mmmph wears off and you're firing any particles in the air remain crits and can build up to nearly 75% of your Mmmph gauge in many cases, this creates a feedback loop
2. No damage reduction on afterburn, lighting 1 guy on fire grants you 25% of your Mmph
3. Knocking the pyro should result in a reduction of Mmmph duration not an increase to discourage doing the mmmph in the middle of a fight.
The first one is a pretty much impossible to fix without causing more problems I think. I think I could live with the after burn being the same. I'd just like to see the knocking pyro during taunt reducing Mmmph, and maybe make Mmmph use some ammo like an airblast.
Any nerfs or buffs you'd like to see to Phlog? Do you think it's ok as is?
At the very very least I think it needs skill indexing, at the moment there is basically zero advanced uses for the Phlog thus the skill floor and skill ceiling are basically the same.
I wouldn't mind seeing something added to help teammates out added. Maybe like performing Mmmph also puts out teammates nearby that are on fire. Or make Mmmph work like Buff Banner and instead of crits it causes the Pyro and nearby teammates to have minicrits, though if that is done they need to increase charge time. At the moment a Buff banner takes 600 damage vs the 225 for Phlog. Even the Conch takes 480 because it aids teammates.
What are you thoughts on the Phlognistinator?
