So, after closely monitoring the community market and tf2outpost for sniper rifles i can only come to one conclusion: If you want a specific weapon, you might never be abled to get it. Money is not the issue, that crazy "drop rate" is.
I wanted one weapon, again price would not be the issue i want to talk about here:
Elite Grade Strange Unusual Factory New Thunderbolt Sniper Rifle
Let us take a closer look. This weapon can only come from the:
Powerhouse Weapons Collection Case
What Valve did here is absolutely crazy...
1. Elite Grade
The Thunderbolt Sniper Rifle will always be Elite Grade. There are 6 grades of weapons in a case.
Civilian
Mercenary
Freelance
Commando
Assassin
Elite
And of course, 99% of people who used a key on that case got a Civilian Grade weapon with Civilian being the most common and Elite being the most rare.
2. Strange
There is a rare chance of a weapon being strange. This is new to TF2 players because when we opened crates instead of cases, we had a rare chance of getting a unusual hat but weapons always were strange. I think the chance of getting a strange weapon is already nearly as small as the chance of unboxing a unusual hat was.
3. Unusual
There is a extremely rare chance of a weapon being unusual with 4 different effects available.
Hot
Cool
Energy Orb
Isotope
Unusual weapons are not even strange by default. The chance of getting a weapon that is unusual and strange at the same time seems to be 0,000001%.
4. Wear
There are 5 different possible outcomes of how new or worn out your weapon skin will look like.
Field-Tested
Well-Worn
Minimal Wear
Battle Scarred
Factory New
Field-Tested being the most common and Factory new being the most rare and best looking, again....
So what does this mean? Money is not the deciding factor for buying weapons any more.
Valve managed to give us cases with 4 different, random, extremely rare factors resulting in a very realistic chance that some weapons will never, ever exist.
Say goodbye to actually deciding what unusual effect you want on your weapon. Say goodbye to deciding what wear you want on your strange weapon.......
You'd have to roll the dice 4 times, extremely rare chance to get Elite grade, on top of that extremely rare chance of the weapon being strange, on top of that even more extremely rare chance of the weapon being unusual, on top of that a rare chance of the wear being factory new.
Are you ok with this? I think this is extremely frustrating and it will result in some rare weapons being even more expensive than the most expensive unusuals known right now.
How could they manage to bring CS:Go cases to TF2 and at the same time make the possible outcome even rarer than in CS:Go... Some of the most expensive knives of CS:Go are at 350€ in the SCM but i can already see people paying more than 1000€ for a Unusual Strange Rocket Launcher or Sniper Rifle...
1 week with cases... How rare can weapons be...
