I have decided to take up the challenge of modeling in source, but many of the tutorials on the developer wiki seem to be outdated. I'm looking to use blender because its free and I already have it on my computer. So I would like to:
1) Learn how to use the latest blender build to make a number of things for the Source engine, Garry's Mod will be the game I'm working in for the time being.
2) Know where I can get the plugins for the types of files Source uses, which I think are MDL files, correct me if I'm wrong, and anything else I would need.
3) Learn how to decompile existing models so I can perhaps learn from them and fix problems with existing ones.
4) If possible, have someone who is willing to help me through this new topic.
I'd like to know which of these projects would be the easiest and where I should start.
I've taken up mapping last year and I'd like to make a "Hyudoro" model for one of my maps. It's a basic bell-shaped translucent ghost that has a wavy animation underneath it and behaves like a manhack from the Sega Genesis Game Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles.

I had a weapon named "Raptor Magic" which was a modified version of the magneeto stick for TTT and accidentaly misnamed it "Magic Raptor". After the players on my server saw this they suggested that I should take the raptor ragdoll on my server and make it so the magic raptor was a handheld version of this. The problem was while I can make it a viewmodel by just putting in the path the size of the model doesn't change and everyone just walks a around with a raptor sitting on their head. Much less is it actually in their hand.
The raptor ragdoll was from a workshop addon that uses the dinosaurs from primal carnage. I succeeded in making it a player model but the frozen raptor simply slides around without moving its body. Whats worse is it doesn't have a head hit box. I'd like to make it a player model that actually animates and fix the head hit box.
Any help with these problems would be awesome! Please let me know if my post was helpful.
