AFter the recent patch, Airblast has latency issues when dealing with projectiles fired from someone with slightly lower ping, IE, it takes upwards of half a second for a projectile to be considered 'reflected', and in that time if the projectile hits the pyro or anyone else, it wont be considered reflected, even with the airblast sound going off. This has only happened in the latest patch.
