Alright guys and girls, I need advice from fellow gamers.
I have enough games that I enjoy to play Multiplayer. Team Fortress 2, Borderlands 2, Red Alert 3, etc. But now, I'm looking for a good game with Single Player. But not just any Single Player... it needs to have the following:
- Good story
- First Person or Third Person shooter
- I'm sick of the post-apocalypse or zombie outbreak thing. I'd love a game set in the current day and with a more or less realistic setting. Genetic engineering and forbidden weaponry is fine, alien attacks and monsters from another dimension less so
- It can be stealth or lots of action. Preferably, combination of both
- Preferably modern but more or less realistic weapons. I'm not into ancient times like the Mediëval games, like Assassin's Creed and **** like that.
Games I've briefly thought about but don't think will interest me are:
- CoD and Battlefield series: single player is waaaay too short
- Bioshiock: Tried it, but just couldn't get immersed in the story. Plus, too far away from reality.
- Hitman: loved the first ones, but didn't like the new ones so much. Plus, the story is kinda boring: get in, murder, get out, rinse and repeat
- Crysis: Same as Bioshock. Gave it a chance several time, just didn't like it
- Far Cry: Tried it too, didn't really like the idea that you were stuck on an Island all the time
As you can see, it's really hard to find one. Not sure I actually will. The game that will always hold that special place in my heart will be Soldier of Fortune 1 & 2. Unfortunately, those series are dead (especially after that 3rd abomination)
Games I seriously consider but still hesitate for:
- Wolfenstein The New Order: Alternative timeline is good as long as it's not completely over the top. Will I be able to follow the story if I haven't played the previous ones? How much over the top is the alternative timeline?
- Rainbow Six games: the setting is perfect: modern day, realistic scenario and weapons, counter-terrorism... but you're 100% dependent on your squad right?
- Metal Gear Solid games: isn't the story set in a completely different timeline too? Is it still somewhat realistic? Is the story immersive?
- Splinter Cell games: also sounds like a really good setting, just like Rainbow Six, but isn't this game like... 101% stealth and no action at all? Or is there still a little action here and there?
Anyone with experience in either of those games want to chime in, would be great! Or if people have totally different ideas, I'm all ears.
+rep to helpful answers.
Thanks everyone!
