Dear,
I am not an FPS player. However, I enjoy mapping, and I wanted to try my hand at mapping for CS:S.
I have immediately run into an issue that seems to be ill documented, however. I have downloaded Source SDK, and I bought Counter Strike: Source. I installed CS:S, ran it, closed it, started Source SDK... and I only see TF2 under the listed game directories.
Now, I reckoned this might be related to my using two different computers, and thus having all my game folders under common. I found a few tutorials, but all seemed outdated as I tried to manually direct it to the correct folders (cstrike, no?)
Eventually I did manage to get Hammer Editor to run with Source MP and the game directory referring to the common/counter Strike: source/cstrike folder. However, as it started, and in excitement I started a New map, I noticed the only Textures I have are debug textures, and I cannot seem to get the grid as listed in most tutorials on mapping using Hammer Editor.
Can anyone please assist? You will make me, and my CS:S playing friends, very happy.
Kind regards, Kano.
