Am I Getting Taken for a Ride?

So I've decided to make the upgrade from a Laptop to a PC. Nothing too fancy, I don't need to run everything at 4K, 60 fps, I just want to be able to play new releases at modest graphics.

That being said, I am completely inexperienced about building my own. I don't want to sink hundreds of dollars into a motherboard only to fry it into so much useless slag because of my ineptitude. So I contacted a friend of a friend who makes computers for a living. I've got a quote now, but my issue is that I am uncertain as to what is considered "fair pricing," or if the rig I'm getting will even perform well.

Here's the specs with pricing:

MSI 970A-G43 Motherboard $69.99
AMD FX-6350 Vishera 6-Core 3.9GHz $139.99
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 Ram $79.99
WD Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s $54.99
XFX Double Dissipation R7-260X-CDF4 Radeon R7 2GB Video Card $129.99
Asus DVD Burner DRW-24F1ST $19.99
APEVIA X-TROOPER Series X-TRP-GN Computer Tower $49.99
RAIDMAX Cobra RX-700AC-B Continuous 700 watts $59.99
APEVIA CF12SL-SGN 120mm Green LED Case Fan $11.99
Windows 7 Home Edition 64 Bit $99.99
Labor $140.00

Total: $856.90

So what do you guys think? Is this a decent rig and a reasonable price? I don't want to insult this guy since he's a friend of a friend, but I also don't want my inexperience to be taken advantage of. Would it be preferable to purchase similar parts myself at lower cost and convince him to only do labor, or are there other larger branches I should consider checking out for a gaming rig?
