Steam support and its ingorancy

Hello there fellow steam users / steamers / just bypassers

So there happened one thing the other day. Just a regular trade day. Wanted to trade my Huntsman knife for a clean vanilla fine lookin' gut knife. So i made offers on numerous posts in lounge. One responded. Typical chat with hi and immediate ask for a trade. Then the hit the fan!!

He placed some low-end boxes in trade window and in middle the knife i was looking for. Immediately i placed my knife in the trade window, but just before i checked "ready" he then swapped his knife out with a cheap 0.04$ weapon. And there was the biggest fail from my side. I, in hype of getting my favourite low-end knife, didn't check twice and accepted the trade. Only then when the trade was almost done i realized that he was scamming me. I quickly tried to un-check "ready" but it didn't work... the trade was complete and now i lost 55$. Immediately i messaged steam support, which they only responded 4 days after this all happened (it all happened on friday, march 19th, 2015)

So they sent me this short message saying that:

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

We apologize for the delay.

The trade in question was completed through the Steam trading interface, which requires multiple confirmations from both trade partners. We have a strict item restoration policy regarding trades confirmed through this process. Steam Support will not restore items associated with this trade.

It is the user's responsibility to verify that the contents of the trade are accurate and that the trade partner is the correct user.

If scammers are encountered in the future, please report them through their Steam Community profile. To do so, click the 'More' drop down, select 'Report Violation', and choose 'Attempted Trade Scam'. All reports made are investigated by Steam Support.

Steam Support discourages the following types of trades, as they cannot be guaranteed by the Steam trading interface:

- Trades involving money/PayPal outside of the Steam Community Market

- Trades involving CD keys or Wallet codes

- Trading items and expecting them to be returned to you through a verbal agreement

- Trading items/gifts for nothing in return in the first trade and expecting to get an item or gift in a later trade

From there on i was super mad about the so called "support" which even can't do as simple as returning an item that is still in the scammers backpack (thats here: http://ift.tt/1ImzBBq)

From which i furiously smashing my keyboard responded with this:

Are you kidding me? Is it that hard for you to trace the trade and return the item that has been taken away by manipulation, thats like still there in the scammers backpack, and let the criminal escape like this? Like really i put REAL MONEY into market and all you can respond is "Steam Support will not restore items associated with this trade." ? Are you really so greedy that you'r gonna do this kind of bull to your own customers? You understand that with a lawyer i can make that you loose more than those 55 euros that i've put in your company!

Worst support for customers! Where did the "the customer is always right" go? This is multimillionaire company and you cant even return an item thats worth 55 euros? Like really guys? I'm so disapointed in this. I hope you'll think about this more and come to conclusion that it's easier to return an item what actually hasn't been lost. It's still in the system. And to punish the scammer that tried to frauden community.

Just terrible!

Now waiting for their responce (which may never come)

Anyway i can get the item that i lost back? or is there no chance? Also one big fail from my side was that i turned off trade confirmation email (because it was really bugging me since i had to do numerous small trades all at once)

P.s. - If this post is in the wrong section feel free to redirect me to the right one and i'll be sure to place it there

One love

Nick
